Docs written anywhere, living in Confluence
Point it at the folder you already have. You get real Confluence pages that people can search, comment on and find with Rovo, not Markdown trapped in a macro.
Re-import that updates, never duplicates
Choose the same folder again: new files become pages, changed files update their pages, and unchanged pages get no new version and send no notifications.
Your folder, faithfully
Folders become parent pages, README.md and index.md become the folder's page, and the order follows your nav, sidebar or front matter.
Links, images and code intact
Relative links and #anchors point to the right pages, images become attachments, and code blocks keep their language. Callouts become Confluence panels.
Every page shows its source
"Source: install.md" sits next to the author, so editors know a page is managed from a file. One click shows whether it was edited in Confluence and updates the import from there.
Safe with Confluence edits
Before writing, it checks every page. Pages someone edited or deleted in Confluence are left alone unless you choose Overwrite, which also brings deleted pages back under their parent.
Preview first, report after
See the page tree, unmatched links and skipped files before anything is written. Afterwards, a report lists every page and what happened to it.

Markdown
GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps wikis, MkDocs and Docusaurus sites, Obsidian vaults, Notion exports and any folder of .md files, front matter included.
AsciiDoc and HTML sites
AsciiDoc and Antora docs, with their include files and links across modules. Built HTML sites such as Sphinx, or an old intranet export: only the content comes across, not the menus.
Jupyter notebooks
Code in the notebook's language, charts as images and pandas tables as real Confluence tables, so notebook results are finally searchable.
Keep it current
Migrate without freezing the old wiki
Import early and let people start using Confluence. While the Git wiki or docs repo keeps changing, run the import again. On cutover day, run it one last time.
- Renamed or moved a file? Its page is renamed or moved too, keeping its history and comments.
- Removed a file? Keep its page, archive it or move it to the trash. Pages with other child pages are never removed.
- Every page shows its source. "Source: install.md" sits next to the author, so editors know the page is managed in Markdown and can update the import from there.

From folder to page tree in minutes
No scripts, tokens or command line. It all happens in Confluence.

Run it again later
When the files change, update the import from its top page or from any imported page. Only what changed is written.
Security
Your files never leave Atlassian
Definitive Pages runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform and is eligible for the Runs on Atlassian program. Files are read in your browser and sent only to your own Confluence site, as you, with your permissions. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
Compared with Confluence's built-in import
Why not use the built-in importer?
Confluence Cloud can import HTML and Notion exports, but it has no Markdown import. Its importers create a new space and can't update pages afterwards.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Which formats does it understand?
Markdown, with the conventions of GitHub and Azure DevOps wikis, MkDocs, Docusaurus, Obsidian and Notion exports. AsciiDoc, including Antora sites and include:: files. HTML folders, such as a Sphinx build (for reStructuredText, import the HTML Sphinx builds). And Jupyter notebooks, with their saved charts, tables and output. What converts to what.
What happens when I run it again?
New files become new pages, changed files update their pages, and renamed files keep their page. Unchanged pages aren't touched: no new versions and no notifications. For removed files you choose: keep, archive or trash their pages.
What if someone edited an imported page in Confluence?
Updates leave that page alone unless you choose Overwrite. The page's source line shows "edited here" so everyone can see it.
Is there automatic sync from Git?
Not yet. You update by running the import again on the new folder or .zip, which takes seconds when little has changed. Automatic sync would need a connection outside Atlassian.
Does my content leave Atlassian?
No. Files are read in your browser and written to your own Confluence site as you. The app runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform ("Runs on Atlassian") and makes no outside connections.
What happens if we uninstall?
Your pages stay: they are ordinary Confluence pages. You can no longer update them from the files, and the source line disappears.
